Wear-Edge
Milling will...
- produce
a groove in way of the top piston ring TDC. As the liners
wear down increases, a sharp edge will develop at the TDC
of the top piston ring, especially in the P-S direction.
This edge is removed and a groove milled deep enough to
avoid an edge to develop in the future running of the engine.
- Prohibit
the occurrence of built-up carbon deposits in way of the
top ring TDC, which may cause damage to piston rings and
ring grooves in the piston crown.
